The Gathering 2009 'Passport', in a commemorative leather-bound wallet, gives holders entry to the Highland Games, a guaranteed place in the Clan March up the Royal Mile from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to Edinburgh Castle and seats for the Clan Pageant on Edinburgh Castle esplanade.
It is not possible to buy single tickets for the Clan March or for the Clan Pageant; these are only available as part of the Passport.
There are only 8,500 Passports available.
How do I get a Passport?
The Scottish Clans and Castles Passport allocation is available to our clients only as part of a holiday, thus in conjunction with accommodation in Edinburgh or elsewhere in Scotland. A range of accommodation offers are shown on our Edinburgh Accommodation page. Passports can also be bought as part of our Highland Tour or in conjunction with a touring holiday.
To discuss your individual arrangements, just send us an email.
Passport Arrangements
Passport prices are graded bronze, silver and gold and vary with the seating position for the Clan Pageant on the castle esplanade (see below). They are available on a first come, first served basis.
The passports will be mailed out directly to you from the Gathering Office three months prior to the event, hence in April 2009.

Please note 'small print' below:
- Personal data submitted to us will be passed on to organisers of 'The Gathering 2009' so that Passports can be sent out by post and Passport holders kept informed about the event by email newsletters.
- Passports are sold to us by The Gathering 2009 on a non refundable basis. We in turn are not able to refund our own purchasers
- By ordering tickets via our website, you as purchaser represent and warrant that the passport is purchased for personal use only, and that it is not purchased as part of any form of business or commercial activity and in particular, that the ticket may not be resold or offered for resale by anyone whether at a premium or otherwise and may not be used for advertising, promotion or for any other trade purposes. Resale or attempted resale at a price higher than that printed herein is grounds for seizure or cancellation; this includes, for the avoidance of doubt, any publication via the internet or any other means with the intent to resell for commercial gain.
- Please remember that Edinburgh is a capital city and therefore as well as the 8,500 clanspeople who will be taking part in the events on Saturday night we are also expecting large crowds to be watching the parade. The length of the two performances also means that passport holders will not be leaving the castle esplanade until quite late on the Saturday evening.
